Glasgow Cup

The Glasgow Cup was a football tournament open to teams fom Glasgow. It was held annually from 1887 until 1988, although the last tournament was not completed.
It was dominated by the Old Firm of Celtic F.C. and Rangers F.C., the latter having the greatest number of wins with 44. Celtic won 29 times.
Other teams taking part included Clyde F.C., Partick Thistle F.C., Queens Park F.C., and Third Lanark F.C.
The advent of European football tournaments like the European Cup and the UEFA Cup led to the Glasgow Cup becoming less valued, and the tournament did not take place at all or was not finished several times in its last years.
