[edit] Curriculum
The Adult High School program offers high school credit courses from the Public School Program (PSP). The senior high curriculum covers all the requirements for the students to obtain the regular Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma or the Nova Scotia High School Graduation Diploma for Adults.
There are two semesters in the school year. Students can take up to four courses in each semester, if the courses offered fit the student’s schedule and requirements.
The first semester begins in the middle of September. In November, the first half of the first semester's mid-term exams begin. You begin the second half of the first semester a few days after the mid-term exams have ended. The second half of the first semester ends at the end of January, with your final mid-terms for that semester being held a few days prior. The second semester begins in early February.
You can expect two more sets of exams before the year is over. The first half of the second semester has its mid-term exams held sometime in the middle of April, while the second half of the second semester has its mid-term exams held in the middle of June. The final and "unofficial" day of school is the day after the very last mid-term exam, and the last "official" day of school is the last day of June.
Note: You are not required to keep your notes after each mid-term exam. For example: The first half of the first semester. This is usually from September until November. All information that you've learned from September, October, and November will be on the mid-term exam, but once you have finished that mid-term exam, you can discard your notes, as the information from these three months will no longer be needed.
