Giuseppe Taddei (born June 26, 1916) was an Italian baritone known for his work in Italian opera, particularly the works of Giuseppe Verdi, as well as for his work in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's and Richard Wagner's operas.
Taddei was born in Genoa and studied in Rome, where he sang regularly for several years after his debut there in 1936 as the Herald in Lohengrin. After being conscripted into the army in 1942, he returned to his singing career in 1946, performing for two seasons at the Vienna State Opera. His specialisation in Mozart came later in his career, where he was particularly well known for the roles of Leporello from Don Giovanni and Figaro. He recorded these roles with EMI in London with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Carlo Maria Giulini.
