Giurgiuleşti is a village in the southernmost point of Moldova. It has a population of 3,074 and it is located on the border with Romania and Ukraine, at the confluence between the Prut River and the Danube. Moldova has access to the Danube only for about 480 metres and Giurgiuleşti is the only Moldovan port on the Danube. The building of an oil terminal started in 1996 and it was concluded in 2006.
