Gismu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
gismu is a morphology term pertaining to the artificial language Lojban. gismu constitute the lexical base of the language. Each gismu is a five-letter selbri either of the form CVCCV or CCVCV where C stands for a consonant and V for a vowel. There are 1342 canonical gismu. Various experimental gismu have been proposed, but none of them have become canonical (arguably every word that cannot be directly expressed as a single gismu may be expressed as a lujvo (a combination of rafsi) or a fu'ivla).
Like other selbri, each gismu can have a number of sumti (or arguments), varying from 1 to 5.
