Girona's Cathedral
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Girona's Cathedral is one of the most impressive buildings in Europe. Original Girona's cathedral was a Romanesque building (S. XI-XII) which was redesigned by Guillem Bofill in 1416. The new genial design consists of a big Gothic nave, which is the widest Gothic nave in the world (22'98 mts.) and the second widest nave of all styles after St. Peter's basilica in Rome.
From the original Romanesque cathedral, it has a cloister and tower (called "Torre de Carlemany"), with outstanding reliefs. Also has the Tapís de la Creació (Tapestry of the Creation), a big 11th century tapestry depicting the world creation, months of the year and Biblical characters.
