Ginásio do Maracanãzinho

Ginásio do Maracanãzinho, sometimes called just Maracanãzinho, is an indoor sporting arena located in Maracanã neighborhood, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its formal name, Ginásio Gilberto Cardoso, honors a former Clube de Regatas do Flamengo president. The capacity of the arena is 13,163 and was built in 1954. It is located near the Maracanã Stadium. Maracanãzinho means Little Maracanã.

The gymnasium was inaugurated on September 24, 1954, with that year's Male's Basketball World Championship.
During the 1950s and the 1960s, the Miss Guanabara and Miss Brasil beauty contests were held in Maracanãzinho.
During the 1960s and the 1970s several national and international music festivals were held in the gymnasium.
In 1963, at the gymnasium, the Brazil national basketball team, coached by Kanela, won its second Male's Basketball World Championship in a row.
The 1990 Male's Male's Volleyball World Championship was held in Maracanãzinho.
