[edit] Hello
hi gil gamesh, I am the creator of Sadha, thanks for your little contribution. Naan Kadavul 14:20, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Glad to do it - I worked my way through most of the ambiguous Indian links. I very much enjoyed reading the Cinema of India articles. Gil Gamesh 15:19, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Disambiguation
Hi Gil, I know you meant no harm and that disambiguation is your thing, but I don't like my nationality being re-labelled. You have categorised me as being "Republic of Ireland" as opposed to "Irish". How would you know this? And I do think it is unfair to make such a change on a user page without consultation or comment. Part of Ireland's troubles stems from each side having labels for the other. As I said, no harm done, but please consider my remarks. Thanks Nelson50 09:42, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Nelson. Fair enough. Would you consider changing the link to Irish or Irish. I simply chose "Republic" as the most specific link. Gil Gamesh 09:51, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- That's a good idea - done. Cheers Nelson50 10:57, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dab
Hi Gil, I am trying to fill up all those pointers to ancient places with articles, but there are so many; thanks for disambig'ing the Sardinia one; I am afraid that many of my blues ought to be reds because many ancient places seem to share names with genera (pl. of genus) of fish, moths, nematodes, and what-not. By the way, there's a lot of disambig'ing work to be done on Crusades, I tried sorting it out about a month ago, but it's gone haywire since. Good luck. Carlossuarez46 17:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's a mammoth project you've set yourself allright. Should keep you busy for a lifetime or so :-> Gil Gamesh 18:28, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A.J. Arkell, etc.
Please don't move pages by cutting and pasting; this makes a mess of the histories. You should always use the "Move" function. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 22:43, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. I see you fixed it the proper way already. Gil Gamesh 09:26, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dab on Iqbal
Hi GG - the link to Indian is the correct version, agreed upon through discussion because there were issues regarding the difference between undivided India and the modern Republic of India. This difference is clarified thru the disambig. This Fire Burns.....Always 23:44, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for pointing that out. That's an issue I've wondered about. Maybe it makes sense to rename the Indian dab page to Indian (disambiguation), so that it's clear that the link is deliberate. It's something that will come up in a lot of pages I think. And someone, like me, who's just trawling the ambiguous links lists won't always read through the discussion page - it's not obvious from looking at the contents on the discussion for Iqbal. Anyway, blah, blah, blah. --Gil Gamesh 00:02, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Oglesby
Hi -- just letting you know that I moved Oglesby to Oglesby (disambiguation). Please let me know if this isn't alright. Thanks -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 01:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Whore Pills redirect
FYI, the redirect Whore Pills that you just created links to itself. I can't think of what the target was intended to be, though. Opabinia regalis 21:29, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. It should be to Methaqualone. I'll fix it now. --Gil Gamesh 21:31, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request
This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 22:57, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cusseta
Greetings, O Mesopotamian culture hero. Would you please revisit your redirect of Cusseta to Cusseta, Georgia?
I have created a stub for the Creek Indian town of Cusseta and have reluctantly named it Cusseta, Creek Nation and made a disambiguation page. After having done all this, I can't help thinking it would be much simpler to have Cusseta be the article about the Creek town, with a link at the top to a disambiguation page for the Georgia and Alabama towns. (Compare Tukabatchee.)
Cusseta, Alabama doesn't have an article yet, but I suppose it's just a matter of time.
What do you say? I am new to this stuff and have never renamed a page. Yeah, I'm s'posed to be bold but thought it best to ask for advice. -- Alarob 02:42, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, Alarob. Welcome to Wikipedia. I'd be inclined to make Cusseta a dab page and point Cusseta (disambiguation) to it. I think you can only justify having Cusseta as an article about the Creek Indian town, if the town was famous and if most people thought of that town when they heard the word "Cusseta". Have you looked at Disambiguation#Page_naming_conventions?
- That said, I have no emotional, egotistical, or pedantic investment in the redirect page and won't argue with whatever change you decide is best. You seem to have lots of good faith and common sense. Go on, be bold! Best, Gil Gamesh 13:18, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks for the vote of confidence! (BTW that link on Page naming conventions now leads to a mind-bending essay on Ambiguity.) I guess my next steps are:
- Move Cusseta, Creek Nation to Cusseta
- Add a disambiguation link to Cusseta, Georgia
- One of these days, write an article on Cusseta, Alabama

- I re-read this and realized you're talking about something else. What do you mean by "dab page"? -- Alarob

- I think we're on more or less the same lines. dab is just short for DisAmbiguation Page, so I guess "dab page" is tautological. I would do this (but see 2nd paragraph in my previous post):
- Make Cusseta a disambiguation page with links to Cusseta, Creek Nation, and Cusseta, Georgia (and Treaty of Cusseta, I see).
- Make Cusseta (disambiguation) a redirect to Cusseta.
- Leave Cusseta, Creek Nation, and Cusseta, Georgia alone.
- If you felt like it, create Cusseta, Alabama and add link for it in Cusseta.

- OK. I'm unhappy with the title Cusseta, Creek Nation even though I authored it. "Cusseta" would be the ideal name (by analogy with Tukabatchee), but this could get tricky with towns that share names with well-known modern cities (e.g., Tuskegee). I suppose I can get some advice from Wikipedia:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America on how to label the town (e.g., "Cusseta (town)"). Thanks for the advice. -- Alarob 00:09, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] C. J. Rogers
Please do not create redirects to non-existent articles. (aeropagitica) 13:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't remember making this particular redirect. But I do see that Clifford Joy Rogers was deleted 3 days before you deleted the redirect and left this note. I think it's very unlikely that I did create a redirect to a non-existent article. --Gil Gamesh 23:19, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
