From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gibson ES-355TD-SV was Gibson's top of the range thin line (TD) semi-acoustic guitars, fitted with stereo wiring and varitone (SV). It was manufactured from 1958 until 1982, and was widely used by blues musician BB King, who has been featured in Gibson publicity from the 1960s onwards. The guitars have also been extensively used by Eric Clapton, Chuck Berry, Steve Howe, Alex Lifeson, Noel Gallagher, Tito Jackson, Alvin Lee, Jorma Kaukonen and Keith Richards.

The guitar is based on the Gibson ES-335 and has similar looks with some exceptions. The headstock has a split diamond block inlay rather the smaller inlay on the 335, in addition to a binding. The fingerboard inlay are blocks, inlaid on the first position of the fretboard. The fretboard has a binding as well. The body has a binding on both the front and the back.

The 355 has been available with a Vibrola tremolo unit or a Bigsby tremolo unit.
