A gibibit (a contraction of giga binary bit) is a unit of information or computer storage, abbreviated Gibit or sometimes Gib.
The gibibit is closely related to the gigabit, which can either be a synonym for gibibit, or refer to 109 bits = 1,000,000,000 bits, depending on context.
