GI glasses

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

GI glasses are specially made glasses worn by trainees/recruits, and soldiers who require them. Notable are during boot camp and in combat scenarios.

They are worn to prevent breakage which could injure, complicate vision, or otherwise inhibit someone in a critical situation.

They are large, to allow a wide plane of vision, thick and reinforced to prevent breaking, waterproof, with thick frames.

Initially upon entering boot camp, people may wear civilian glasses until government-issued ones are assigned. Contact lenses are never permissable for these exercises.
