I propose that the following articles are proposed to be merged into one point. The reamining character articles (of considerable legnth) will be summarized on this page. WP:FICTION mentions that articles on minor characters should reside in lists of characters and that major characters should be sumarized on the main list. If there are no objections, this will be completed on this coming Sunday. --Kunzite 19:27, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Oppose - I comprehensively oppose this proposition, as the aforementioned characters are major characters who play extremely singificant roles in the Ghost in the Shell plot - therefore, the articles for these characters must stay, as they provide important and essential information. The assertion that any of them are anything less or are allegedly "minor" is nothing more than conjecture and someone's P.O.V. - point of view - which, in my humble opinion, I oppose, as I feel the above characters play significant roles and therefore should stay as they are, in their own unique articles. - Ganryuu 19:30, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Your reasoning is flawed.
No Small Parts, Only Small Actors. These articles are not being deleted, they're being merged. This is not a merge based on minor/major characters, but on the legnth of articles. ALL characters will be merged into one article and those with very long pages will have a summary on the character page and a link to the main article. If the legnth of a currently small article becomes long enough through future editing it can be summarized and then moved into its own page.

I stay steadfast by my opinion, and feel that the articles for the aforementioned characters should stay as they are, in their own unique articles - and since many of these characters are significant in numerous Ghost in the Shell manga and anime series, both in the present and the future - they can always be sufficiently expanded upon anytime, and in my humble opinion, I feel that it's best if they are left within their own articles. - 'Ganryuu 20:19, 7 July 2006 (UTC)'

Yes, but just like the Laughing Man, the Individual Eleven play a large part as an antagonist oriented characters, thus this merger is a wise move.

-Merge it. Nothing would be lost from a grouping of the characters into one larger category. It will be more efficient with the merger. -Alex

  • Oppose: There is more than one incarnation of the GitS story and each has different versions of the characters. Do you think you can merge 3 different versions (at least - one for each incarnation) into one big article? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Energman (talk • contribs) .
For the minor characters, I do think we can merge 3 "different" ones. That is to say, there's usually a base personality / facts that is true in all works, then "differences". This is not as drastic as you think. If a character is notable enough and does have a large enough section, then they will still keep their own article, but still be listed here. Notice that there are a few articles that are "merged" but.. not.. they have a main article link. In other words, expand on the sections (per WP:WAF, of course) till it's large enough for it's own article, then split it. Till then, the proper process, per WP:FICT, is to have them on one list-style article. -- Ned Scott 06:18, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

I started to merge just the shorter articles for now. I'm not sure what to do with Saito (Ghost in the Shell), since I'm not even sure how much of his info is accurate (the Pre-WWIII story.., it's not that we shouldn't include the info, but maybe say that it might not possibly be what really happened?). Also, the ones that just say "see also" should still at least have a short description in addition to linking to the larger article. -- Ned Scott 11:39, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Consensus has been reached per WP:FICTION. We can continue to discuss it, if you wish, but consensus does not have to be reached for each individual situation when there is a general consensus such as on WP:FICT. -- Ned Scott 06:18, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proto or Frodo?

In the Bio Android's page he is listed as Frodo instead of Proto, and honestly while watching the show his name sounded like Frodo not Proto or maybe Phrodo or something to that affect. It would be nice to have a link in his character page connecting to a legitimate source with his name written.

In my humble opinion we should have a main page with all the characters. The more important and the others. Then if necessary a character take a link to a singular character page.We should decide wish are the main characters and give more espace for them in this main page.A reader should see a complete list of characters in this main page with some text.If he wants to know more than he goes to the character page. 21:42 09 December 2006
