Ghiyasuddin School

Ghiyasuddin School is the sixth primary school in Malé, the capital of the Maldives. It was constructed with Japanese aid, and began operating in February, 1999, although the building was completed in March. In June 1999 the official inauguration was conducted by President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
The school is named after Muhammad Ghiyasuddin who became Sultan in 1766 and is known for introducing breadfruit to the country.
