Gheorghe Asachi

Gheorghe Asachi (1788-1869) was a Romanian Humanist, prose writer, poet, painter, and dramatist. Asachi was born on the 1st of March 1788 in the small town of Herţa in Dorohoi. Asachi was a polymath, contributing to such artistic fields as fiction writing, play-wrighting, painting, and journalism as well as more technical fields such as engineering and pedagogy. His head achievement remains, however, the Mihaileana Academy, opened in 1835, institute.
