Ghenadie Şonţu Dor

Ghenadie Şonţu Dor (b. December 17
, 1979) is a "Messianic Artist", work in realist style. In his paintings and research the painter focuses on the philosophical, social-political, Judaic and biblical themes, holocost etc... He was born in Bălţi, Moldova. Ghenadie Şonţu is a President of the young intellectuals’ association “ARS DOR”. He graduated the Academy of Fine Arts and also Invisible College of Moldova Anthropology, Culture and Philosophy Laboratory. In 2003 Ghenadie Şonţu was President of Youth Parliament of Moldova, organised by US Embassy, UNICEF and CNTM. In 2004 in partnership with UNDP Ghenadie Şonţu launched project “Peace Ambassadors”, that involved more than 2000 children from Moldova, USA, Ucraine and Romania.In 2006 he launched the International Art Project Eurointegration through Art with the support of IFPC UNESCO for 21 Ambassadors of Eurointegration through Moldova, Romania, Ukraine, Georgia and Latvia. Ghenadie Şonţu is “a collector of children’ images”. His collection of paintings presents a series of children’ portraits with names from biblical genealogy, such as “Adam”, “Abraham”, “Joseph”, ”David”, “Debora”, etc. – personalities whose identities had a strong impact in the humankind history. Painter is interested in identity crisis of modern society and offers in his paintings indisputable models of integrity, which are actual for present as well.
