Gespenst
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The PTX-001 Gespenst (or Geshpenst) is a fictional giant robot featured in various Super Robot Wars games. Along with Cybuster, the Gespenst is one of the most widely used giant robot in the series.
In the series, the Gespenst is usually used as a cheap mass-produced unit (similar to the RGM-79 GM in Gundam), although there have been several variants that can be considered quite powerful. The word "Gespenst" is German for "Specter."

[edit] PTX-001 Gespenst-R
First ever Personal Trooper developed for basic concept. Long range combat version. Light armor but high mobility and speed. Its main weapon is meant to hit enemies from distance. While being an old experimental model, it was built using high quality components. And since it is basic model, its performance can be tuned-up to rival the later Personal Troopers.
Weapons:
Split Missile: Standard missile used for long range attacks.
Plasma Cutter: A standard energy blade used for melee combat.
Neutron Beam: Hand-held rifle that shoots neutron beam blasts. A very powerful weapon for long-range engagement.
[edit] PTX-002 Gespenst-S
Close combat version of the Gespenst. More armored, more powerful weapons but less mobility and speed compared to the R version. It was the base to develop the later Grungust series mechs.
Weapons:
Split Missile: Standard missile used for long range attacks.
Plasma Cutter: A standard energy blade used for melee combat.
Blaster Beam: A high-powered, short-range beam shot from the chest of the mech. Similar to the Grungust's Final Beam attack.
[edit] PTX-007-1 Gespenst MkII-R
Improved version of the Gespenst-R. It further enhances its mobility, and the weapon system is slightly different and more powerful.
Weapons:
Split Missile: Standard missile used for long range attacks.
Neo Plasma Cutter: Improved version of the Plasma Cutter.
Mega Beam Rifle: An high powered medium-to-long range beam rifle. Not as powerful as the earlier Neutron Beam rifle, but more versatile. It will become a common weapons among later Gespensts, and many other PTs besides.
Slash Ripper: Mid-range remote weapon, consisting of 3 pods with spinning blades that are used to cut the enemy's armor. The pods explode for further damage after cutting into the target.
[edit] PTX-007-2 Gespenst MkII-S
The improved version of the Gespenst-S. It's a step up in every field, and shares the same (but improved) weapons systems.
Weapons:
Split Missile: Standard missile used for long range attacks.
Neo Plasma Cutter: Improved version of the Plasma Cutter.
Mega Blaster Beam: A more powerful version of the Blaster Beam, increasing its damage rating.
Gespenst Kick: A powerful melee attack, the Gespenst jumps high into the air and lands on the target with a powerful kick
[edit] RPT-007 Gespenst MkII-M
The mass-production version of the Gespenst, derived directly from the MkII-R version. It shares the same capabilities as the prototype, but is toned down in many fields (such as mobility and armor) to help keep production costs low. A great number of these units are produced, and some are customized by their pilots.
Weapons:
Split Missile: Standard missile used for long range attacks.
Neo Plasma Cutter: Standard energy blade for melee combat. An improved version of the Plasma Cutter.
Jet Magnum: The three "Plasma Stakes" on the left arm are energized, after which the mech charges the enemy and punches it. The stakes then discharge against the target for high-damage.
In addition to the fixed weapons the M version can be equipped with a wide selection of hand-held weapons, such as the Mega Beam Rifle, the M95 Machinegun, the Slash Ripper and many other projectile and melee weapons.
[edit] RPT-010 Gespenst MkII-M (Shadow Mirror Type)
Due to different development of mecha in parallel universe, Shadow Mirror's Gespenst MkII-M were assigned the model number 'RPT-010'. While it looks exactly like the RPT-007, it uses same armaments as Gespenst MkII-R and has flight capability.
[edit] Different Timelines
Similar to the Cybuster, the Gespenst has appeared in many different Super Robot Wars timelines.
Original Timeline: Either the Gespenst-S or the Gespenst-R will be the mecha your main character starts off with at the start of SRW4 or F. In F/F Final you will later receieve the Gespenst MkII-S, or the Gespenst MkII-R.
Alpha Timeline: A group of Gespensts arrive during scenario 5 in Alpha Gaiden. Rai and Irm also pilot Gespensts during the last 2 stages of the Good Ending.
Advance Timeline: The Gespenst is the basic mass-production mecha used by the Shadow Mirror, although in the dimension they invade it was passed over for the Dragoon (from Metal Armor Dragonar).
Impact/Compact 2 Timeline: The main Original mecha are custom Gespenst test models - Alteisen and Weisritter.
MX Timeline: Gespensts appear in a flashback.
OG Timeline: The Gespenst is the primary production line of the Earth Federation, including test units (Gespenst-R, Gespenst-S, Gespenst MII-R, Gespenst MkII-S, Gespenst MkII-TT), custom units (Alteisen, Weissritter, Gespenst-RV), and mass-production units (Gespenst MkII-M). However, by OG2, the Gespenst has been replaced by the Huckebein MkII-M as the basic cannon fodder unit, although the Gespenst is still in use. Likewise, in OG2 Shadow Mirror makes use of the Gespenst as a mass-production model before eventually replacing it with units based on the Ashsaber.
[edit] Other
-The Gespenst has also appeared in Hero Senki: Project Olympus piloted by Gilliam Yeager. Masaki Andoh, the pilot of Cybuster also makes an appearance in this game.
-The Mass Production Gespenst MkII was also in A.C.E (Another Century's Episode) as Banpresto's original mecha.
