Gerry Ryan

Gerry Ryan (born June 4, 1956) is a veteran Irish radio presenter, for RTÉ's RTÉ 2fm.
Gerry Ryan was born in Clontarf, Dublin. He studied law at Trinity College, Dublin and went to work as an apprentice solicitor. He joined RTÉ in 1979 as a DJ where he presented a selection of speech and music based programmes on Radio 2 (as RTÉ 2fm was known then).
His current show, The Gerry Ryan Show, which began in 1988, is one of Ireland's most popular radio programmes, attracting a daily audience of over 300,000, though recent figures show that his listenership is on the decline. He is known for his style of non-stop banter which ignores taboos about daytime broadcasting of sexually-explicit material, and for his promotion of American culture. He often causes outrage among his intended audience, but since Ryan's status as Ireland's premier "shock jock" ensures consistently high ratings, his show is likely to endure. Ryan has hosted several series of television talk shows, including Secrets, Ryantown, Gerry Ryan Tonight and Gerry Ryan's Hitlist. He currently presents a series called Ryan Confidential.
In 1994, he presented the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin along with Cynthia Ní Mhurchú. He has an intrest in sports cars and currantly drives a BMW 840i[citation needed].

Ryan was paid €487,492 by RTE in 2004 and €462,442 in 2003 making him the second highest paid presenter to colleague Pat Kenny.
