Geronimon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Geronimon (ジェロニモン Jeronimon) was denoted as the chief of all monsters in his Ultraman episode, but most fans of the show think Geronimon remains less notable than Gomora (or Gahora), Mephiras (or Mefilas), Z-Ton, and the Baltan, all of whom proved to be more persistent adversaries. Geronimon appears as a dark green Godzilla-like creature with a white beard and colored feathers on his head. Powers included using his feathers as telekinesed darts or missiles, and the ability to exhale an anti-gravitational vapor.

Geronimon also had a power to bring back monsters that were previously defeated, and somehow reincarnated Telesdon and Dorako. It is not clear if these monsters were literally brought back from the dead, or simply cloned in some way. A new Pigmon was also brought back, whether revived by accident by Geronimon's power, or simply appearing as another individual from the same species, and this Pigmon was apparently aware that many monsters would return in what might become a massive war of monsters against the Earth, and warned Science Patrol of the impending attack. This Pigmon was destroyed by Dorako, and in turn, Dorako and Telesdon were destroyed by an increasingly effective Science Patrol.

Ultraman did get wounded by several of Geronimon's feathers, but was able to pluck them out and eventually destroy the feathers with his Specium Ray. Geronimon attempt to use his anti-gravity vapor on Ultraman, but Ultraman deflected this with a rectangular shield or force field, and the vapor was repelled back to Geronimon, causing him to float up in the air, and making him easier for Ultraman to destroy.

Geronimon is a play on Geronimo and the name is a combination of the words Geronimo and monster (Geroni(mo) + mon(ster)).
