Germanium telluride

Germanium telluride (GeTe) is a chemical compound of germanium and tellurium.
It has a rhombohedral face centred cubic structure with lattice constant 0.596 nm. The melting point is c. 1000 K. It has semimetallic conduction. The CAS registry number is [12025-39-7] [1], molecular weight 200.2 g.mol−1.
It is a component of chalcogenide glasses. GeTe shows ferroelectric behaviour.
