Gerhard Ringel

Gerhard Ringel is a mathematician who contributed significantly toward the solution of the Heawood conjecture. He earned his Ph.D. at Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in 1951.

Gerhard Ringel spent much of his career at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he also spent time surfing and collecting butterflies.
