Talk:George van Driem
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I removed this passage: "The neutrality of Van Driem's methods came under question when an independent group of scholars investigated the Bangani debate after his rebuttal of Klaus-Peter Zoeller's admittedly fanciful thesis. Upon field investigations, Van Driem was found to have travelled with a linguist from Pune only to the transit town of Mori, which lies outside the borders of Bangan by all local accounts. His absolute dismissal of the Kentum thesis thus followed a fieldwork conducted outside a linguistic territory for which it was proposed. The consensus at the end of that field trip by scholars indicated a non-professional basis for his rebuttal, riding merely on his reputation as a himalayan language expert, a territory he seems keen to control in the manner of a monarch." a) Unsourced and clearly contested information. b) no context is given for the "Bangani debate". c) contains unnecessary editorialising. - Nat Krause(Talk!) 04:36, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
