State Route 140 begins at U.S. 27/S.R. 1 in Armuchee and ends at Lawrenceville Highway (U.S. 29/S.R. 8) in Tucker. The route begins in Armuchee and travels east through Adairsville and across I-75. It goes through Waleska before reaching Canton, where it meets I-575. S.R. 140 then travels southeast into Roswell, where it meets S.R. 400. The route ends after traveling through Norcross and across I-85 before reaching Lawrenceville Highway.
