Georgia Gulf Corporation

The Georgia Gulf Corporation, stock-symbol GGC, is a major manufacturer and marketer of chlorovinyls (resins and compounds), aromatics (cumene, phenol, acetone, and alpha-methylstyrene), and electrochemicals (chlorine and caustic soda). One major product is polyvinyl chloride, abbreviated PVC.

The company operates chemical plants at nine locations in Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas, and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Georgia Gulf has an annual capacity of about 3.1 billion pounds of vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), 2.7 billion pounds of vinyl resins, and 960 million pounds of flexible and rigid vinyl compounds. As of December 31, 2005, the company employs 1,123 full-time individuals.

Georgia Gulf is in the process of acquiring Canadian-based PVC manufacturer and processor, Royal Group Technologies. Royal Group has several divisions, and includes facilities in many parts of the world.
