Georgia, Florida and Key West Railway

Florida state law chapter 3800, approved June 2, 1887, incorporated the Georgia, Florida and Key West Railway Company, owned by Fernando J. Moreno, Issac A. Stewart and Charles Delano,

  • to construct and complete a railroad of standard gauge,... for the transportation of passengers, produce, goods and all other articles of freight, together with a telegraph and telephone line from a point to be selected on the northern boundary line of the State of Florida, and running in a southerly and southeasterly direction to New Smyrna, or a point to be selected on the Atlantic coast; thence along the eastern and southern coast of the State of Florida to Key West, or to the nearest and most practicable point to the same.

The company was to begin construction within 1.5 years, and finish within five years.
