Major General George Alan Vasey, CB, CBE, DSO and Bar (29 March 1895 – 05 March 1945) was an Australian Army Divisional Commander during World War II. Vasey is argued to be the best divisional commander that has ever been produced by Australia. He was evacuated to Crete after the battle for Greece and helped the 19th Brigade try to defend the island. He was then evacuated from Crete and promoted to Major General. Due to illness he was sent back to Australia in 1944 and then died in a plane crash on March 5th 1945 going back to New Guinea.
