George McClellan (police)

George Brinton McClellan (August 13, 1908 – July 19, 1982) served as the 13th Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, from November 1, 1963 to August 14, 1967.

He was born to George Brinton MCCLELLAN (b: 30 DEC 1862 in Alton, Peel Co, ONT, CANADA) and Elizabeth Ann CUNNINGTON (b: 7 DEC 1878 in Kew, London, ENGLAND) in Moose Jaw, SAS, CANADA.
He married Bertha Elizabeth AUSTIN in 1941
He was the father of 3 daughters.
He died in Edmonton, ALB, CANADA.

He should not be confused with American military general George Brinton McClellan.
George died on a Monday, a few weeks after the death of Igor Gouzenko, a Russian embassy cypher clerk who McCLELLAN had protected after Igor's defection in 1945.
George was a key figure involved in Camp X.
