George Lynch (basketball)

George DeWitt Lynch (born on September 3, 1970 in Roanoke, Virginia) is a professional player in the National Basketball Association.

After leading the University of North Carolina to an NCAA title in 1993, he was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 12th overall pick in that year's NBA Draft. With the Lakers, he wore three different jersey numbers - #24, #30 and #9. He was traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies along with Anthony Peeler in 1996 in order to free up salary cap space for Lakers newcomer Shaquille O'Neal. He was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1999. He was traded to the Charlotte Hornets (now the New Orleans Hornets) in 2001. His career averages are 6.6 points, five rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game.
