George Khoury

This page is for the Israeli murder victim. For others of that name see George Khoury (author) or George Khoury (music producer).

George Elias Khoury was an Israeli victim of Palestinian violence who was murdered on March 19, 2004 whilst jogging in the neighborhood of French Hill in Jerusalem. He was a student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, the military branch of the Fatah movement, claimed responsibility for his death.

After it became clear that the he was in fact an Arab Israeli - and not a Jewish Israeli - Fatah apologized, and offered to declare him a martyr for the Palestinian cause. George's family refused this offer.

George's grandfather was also murdered in a Palestinian attack in Jerusalem, when a booby-trapped refrigerator exploded at Zion Square.

George was professionally acquainted with PA and Fatah Chairman Yasser Arafat, who offered his condolences immediately.[citation needed]
