George Irving Bell

George Irving Bell (born August 4, 1926 in Evanston, Illinois; died May 28, 2000) was an American physicist, biologist and mountaineer. In 1953 he was one of five climbers who fell on K2. Their fall was arrested by Peter Schoening in one of the great feats of mountaineering. Bell went on several more Himalayan expeditions and climbed Masherbrum in 1960.
