George F. Wright

George F. Wright, formally George Fred Wright, was Mayor of Honolulu from 1931 to 1938. A surveyor by trade, Wright was born April 23, 1881 in Honolulu and died in office on July 2, 1938 while traveling aboard the SS Mariposa. Prominent memorials to him are a notorious housing project near downtown Honolulu and a classroom building at Washington Middle School in the Pawaa section of Honolulu.
