George-Cristian Maior, is the current director of the Romanian Intelligence Service. He graduated from the Law Faculty in 1991, at the Babeş-Bolyai University from Cluj-Napoca, and the Faculty of International and Comparative Law of George Washington University, Washington D.C.. He is a doctor of law, a title obtained at UNESCO in 1998. He graduated from the National College of Defence of Bucharest in 2001. He has a diploma of Master of Arts in International and Comparative Law. Maior started his diplomatic activity in 1992. He was a Social Democratic Party (Romania) Senator representing Alba County and chairman of the Commission on defence, public order and national security, and also member of the Commission on human rights, religious denominations and minorities of the Romanian Senate.
