George A. Plescia

George Andrew Plescia (pronounced "plesha") (born August 19, 1966) is a U.S. Republican politician from California.

Born in Sacramento, California, Plescia graduated from California State University, Sacramento.

Plescia started out working as an unpaid intern for former State Assembly member Bill Morrow in his district office, and after learning the ropes became a paid staff member.

George A. Plescia was first elected in 2002 to represent the 75th Assembly District, which covers parts of northern San Diego County, California. Plescia has sponsored bills concerning transportation, child pornography, and cutting income taxes. Currently, his office is leading the fight to prevent the relocation of San Diego International Airport to the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

While in the legislature, he developed a reputation of being very personable and well-liked by both Republicans and Democrats. In 2006, he was the California State Assembly Republican Leader.

Plescia and his wife Melissa Dollaghan live in San Diego. He enjoys playing basketball and is a sports fan.

On November 9, 2006, Plescia was replaced as Republican Leader by Michael Villines.
