Watcher of the Skies: Genesis Revisited was a project put together by Steve Hackett to pay tribute to his former band Genesis. It features songs originally released by Genesis during Hackett's tenure with the group (1971–77). One track, "Valley of the Kings," was partially composed by Hackett and Peter Gabriel in 1974. Hackett completed the song for inclusion on the album. Another song, "Waiting Room Only," is a complete reworking of "The Waiting Room," an instrumental from 1974's The Lamb Lies down on Broadway.
