Genworth Financial is a financial services organization that offers of a portfolio of primarily consumer focused products, including life insurance, retirement income and investments, long term care insurance, employer benefits, mortgage insurance and payment protection insurance. Genworth Financial is headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, and employs over 7,000 people in 22 different countries.
Genworth was formerly GE Financial Assurance. In May 2004 its parent company General Electric issued an IPO for Genworth which was the largest IPO of 2004 and, at the time, was the 11th largest IPO in history. General Electric's ownership of Genworth dropped below 50% in 2006 at which point Genworth was considered fully independent of GE.
Genworth Financial was one of the principal sponsors of the the TV hit The Apprentice, hosted by Donald Trump, and later the NBC reality game show Treasure Hunters.
