[edit] History

Katana is the tyrannical ruler of the planet Zeist. His cruel dictatorship leads to the rise of a rebel force, led by Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez and Connor MacLeod.

After Connor and Ramirez are captured during a battle, Katana desires to put them to death. However, the Zeistian Priests instead exile them to Earth, where they are reborn as Immortals. They are to battle with other exiles in the Game, and the final one will have the choice of returning to Zeist or living out his/her life on Earth.

When Connor wins the Prize in 1985 and chooses the latter option, General Katana starts to grow impatient, fearing that MacLeod may change his mind and return to Zeist to challenge his authority. Eventually, Katana sends two henchman to Earth of 2024 to kill an aging MacLeod. When they fail, Katana decides to travel to Earth himself to take on the newly-rejuvenated Highlander. While on Earth, he establishes a headquarters in an abandoned warehouse and makes a temporary alliance with Shield Corporation CEO David Blake (John C. McGinley). Katana later murders Blake in a fit of rage after a set of botched attempts to kill Connor. Katana then confronts Connor in the shield control room; Connor beheads him and uses his Quickening to deactivate the Shield.

Note: In the "Renegade Version" Director's Cut, General Katana is the ruler of an ancient technologically advanced civilization on Earth, not an alien planet. In this version, the main characters (including Katana) are already immortal. Also, in the RV, Katana pursues Connor and Louise Marcus across a desert in their quest to go above the Shield, but fails to stop them.
