Geneforge Takers
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Takers are a servile sect in the Geneforge series of roleplaying games created by Spiderweb Software.
[edit] Origins
When the Shapers abandoned Sucia Island, some of the Serviles were left behind. They slowly, over the centuries, polarized into three groups, the Obeyers, the Awakened, and the Takers. The Takers, initially left in the largest and most properous city on Sucia (Kazg), succumbed to a strange disease the rotted the land around them. Unable to fend for themselves, one mad servile rushed into a city square and shouted to kill "the Shapers" as they were "bad" and to "take our free". Still mostly loyal, he was cut down, but it planted the seeds of rebellion.
Two centuries later, the Takers, with outsider human help, planned to use the Geneforge to give Trajkov incredible Shaper powers so he could overthrow the Shapers and rule (supposedly with justice and a fair hand).
When the player encountered the Takers, they advised him/her to join and help Trajkov finish the Geneforge.
In Geneforge 2, the Takers managed to end up in the worst land possible, again, this time on purpose, to remind them of where they had come from, and what the Shaper's had done to them. As in the first game, the Takers try to enlist the player to help finish the Geneforge.
