Gemstone File
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gemstone File is a document often classified as a conspiracy theory.
Bruce Porter Roberts says in his Gemstone File letters that he began sending out copies of what had been a private journal to selected people in 1968.
The Gemstone File proposes that Aristotle Onassis, Joseph P. Kennedy, and other prominent figures were involved in various schemes to forward a "global conspiracy of mindblowing proportions, involving the Mafia and corrupt politicians, brutal oil and drug cartels, rogue military operations, and more."
It also posits that early in 1954, Aristotle Onassis had Howard Hughes kidnapped from his Beverly Hills Hotel bungalow; that Hughes was seriously injured at that time, and that Hughes was subsequently a virtual prisoner of Onassis on Skorpios, while Onassis took over the operation of Hughes's not inconsiderable financial affairs, including airlines and U.S. defense contracting.
In order to cover up Howard Hughes's sudden disappearance from public view, including his career as a ladies' man among Hollywood's leading ladies, a phony "marriage" to actress Jean Peters in Tonopah, Nevada was arranged, with the help of Paul Laxalt. Laxalt later rode this assistance to a career as Governor of Nevada, and later, a U.S. Senate seat. A series of doubles played "Hughes" whenever necessary.
"Hughes" (i.e., Onassis acting as "Hughes") suddenly became a major purchaser of Las Vegas casinos, in line with Onassis's previous gambling operations in pre-Castro Cuba and in Monaco.
One controversial aspect of the Gemstone File is its portrayal of Onassis as the main force behind the election of John F. Kennedy as President, and subsequently, Kennedy's assassination in 1963. According to Bruce Roberts' Gemstone papers, Lee Harvey Oswald was a participant in the JFK assassination plan. He was linked to the CIA, and to Mafia connections in New Orleans, Louisiana. But the role he was destined to play in the assassination was as the patsy. The actual shooters were Jimmy Fratianno, Johnny Roselli, and Eugene Brading. All are known to have links with the Mafia.
When Robert F. Kennedy decided to run for the Presidency, Aristotle Onassis ordered that he be assassinated. Hypnotized Sirhan Sirhan was set up to be the ostensible shooter. His wild shots peppered the room, but none of them hit Kennedy. The real shooter was Thane Cesar, an employee (security guard) at General Motors, a giant U.S. Corporation secretly owned by Onassis, who was "lent" for the occasion to act, supposedly, as Robert Kennedy's security guard. Cesar was walking right behind Kennedy as they entered the Pantry area. While Sirhan Sirhan's shots flew around the room, Cesar lifted a small palm gun and shot Kennedy behind the ear. "The Second Gun," a documentary, covers this scenario.
Roberts' Gemstone papers also detail the involvement of Joseph P. Kennedy with the Mafia, and with Onassis. John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy attempted to break away from Onassis and the Mafia, and the CIA, and that is the basic reason they were shot.
The Gemstone File was written by an American, Bruce Roberts (1919-1976). The entire document is of unknown length, probably over 1,000 pages. A complete copy is not known to exist, but over 400 pages from the original (handwritten) file are in existence and available. About 250 edited pages from Roberts' original letters and papers, from the period of 1970-1975, are included in the forthcoming book, "The Gemstone File: a Memoir," by Stephanie Caruana.
The Gemstone File theory first emerged publicly in San Francisco, in March, 1975, in the form of a brief outline of many of its major points, entitled A Skeleton Key to the Gemstone File. This 23-page outline was written by Stephanie Caruana, a California journalist. It was circulated worldwide over the next 2 decades, as it presented a brief, undocumented but compelling explanation of worldwide events.
Five books have since been written, based on the Skeleton Key, between 1976-1999.
These include: Beyond the Gemstone File by Peter Renzo (Vantage Press, 1976, 79 pages). This contained a version of the Skeleton Key, plus the "Philadelphia Experiment," and a perhaps fanciful account of Renzo's adventures in Indochina. Renzo now lives in Nevada with several pet tigers. He has reissued his book from Vantage, in 1990, and this reissue is now selling at a hefty price.
The Gemstone File: Sixty years of Corruption and Manipulation Within World Government Detailing the Events Surrounding the Assassination of JFK by Richard Alan (a pen name); (1992.) This 400-page book consists of clippings from major publications collected over a 15-year period which elucidate many details supporting the Gemstone File thesis. OOP, used and new copies available through Amazon.com.
"The Gemstone File, Jim Keith, ed. (1992, IllumiNet Press. 214 pages.) Price and others. OOP, used copies available through Amazon.com.
Project Seek by Gerald A. Carroll (1994, Bridger House. 388 pages.) Extended documentation of Skeleton Key. Includes Kiwi Gemstone, discussion on Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr., assassinations; interviews with an employee of Hughes, etc.
Inside the Gemstone File by Kenn Thomas (Steam Shovel Press) and David Hatcher Childress (1999, Adventures Unlimited Press, 250 pages.) Explores connections between Ian Fleming's "James Bond" novels and movies and the Skeleton Key. Includes Kiwi Gemstone, account of Danny Casolaro's mysterious death, Com-12 Briefing Documents, Interviews, etc.
The Opal File, also known as The Kiwi Gemstone, is a paper written anonymously in Australia/New Zealand. It links the Skeleton Key to the politics of Australia and New Zealand.) This paper has been included in several of the books on Gemstone listed here.
A sixth book, The Gemstone File: A Memoir, by Stephanie Caruana, was published on October 16, 2006 by Trafford Publishing. It is 480 pages long. It contains an updated and expanded Skeleton Key, 2 related articles by Stephanie Caruana, approximately 250 edited pages from Bruce Roberts' original Gemstone File letters, Kiwi Gemstone, and other items. It will be available for purchase through the website http://www.gemstone-file-memoir.com by November 30; through Amazon.com, at about the same time. At present copies can be ordered through Trafford.com.
