Gemayel

Gemayel (IPA: [dʒəmaɪˈɛl]) is the name of a prominent Maronite family based in Bikfaya, Lebanon, several of whose members have played leading roles in politics for many generations.
Prominent members include:
- Philip Gemayel, Maronite Patriarch from 1795 to 1796.
- Pierre Gemayel (1905 – 1984), a Lebanese political leader and founder of the Kataeb Party.
- Maurice Gemayel (died 1969), member of Parliament, brother of Pierre Gemayel.
- Amine Gemayel (born 1942), President of Lebanon from 1982 to 1988, son of Pierre Gemayel.
- Pierre Amine Gemayel (1972 - 2006), a Lebanese politician, son of Amine Gemayel, assassinated.
- Bachir Gemayel, (1947 – 1982), son of Pierre Gemayel and Lebanese military commander, politician and president elect.
- Solange Gemayel, former First Lady of Lebanon, widow of former President-elect Bachir Gemayel; Member of Parliament since 2005.
