[edit] Group history
Concordia is a barbershop octet led by local hero Andrew Loewith. The group's origins are shrouded in mystery, but most agree that it began in late 2003 and originally contained only four members. The group temporarily disbanded but then reformed, this time with eight members, all of whom are still in the group. According to the group, the size was doubled from four to eight out of spite.
Concordia is latin for harmony. That is fitting, because Concordia has four parts, each covered by two singers, which come together to form harmony.
The group debuted in the Radnor Pops Concert, singing Lida Rose from the Music Man and For the Longest Time, featuring the soloist, Aaron Solo. According to proud and tearful parents, the show was a big hit.
[edit] Current members
As mentioned above, Concordia currently has eight members.
Andrew Loewith: bass. As the group's courageous leader and founder, Andrew is a star when it comes to public speaking and introducing the group before performances. He employs endearing and crowd-pleasing methods such as trailing off into an inaudible whisper and bad jokes.
Brian Langenmahn: bass. Considered by most to be the owner of Concordia, Brian is the heart and soul of the group, frequently wearing tuxedo shirts when a regular button-down shirt would have been more appropriate. Many believe that Brian's head resembles a penis.
Scott Carper: baritone. Scott is a real whiz with dancing. He is a real cutie as well, and according to Concordia folklore, Scott is frequently seen stealing the hearts of many of the group's young female admirers. He has recently stolen Sean Mahoney's heart as well.
Sean Mahoney: baritone. Despite his status as a gross, four-eyed, incompetent fool, Sean brings a great deal of cha and wis with his character sheet. His agility recently increased by a record four points, and his int score is an unrivaled 20, giving him a +5 spell-casting modifier. He also carries with him a bag of holdings and a silver staff of bludgeoning (+1).
Greg Buchak: tenor 2. Greg claims to find it very hard to describe himself. However, once he gets going, he finds that words flow out like rivers and bad metaphors when he remembers all the things he has a right to brag about. At the top of the list is his ability to write with his left hand yet throw a Frisbee with his right hand. He also kicks a ball with his right foot, but don't worry ladies: when it comes to lovin', he's ambidextrous.
Merritt "Wow! Science!" Jenkins: tenor 2. Merritt is a lover of science and Nature. He owns an electric toothbrush, of which he claims the following: "My electric toothbrush vibrates at 262 Hz! That's middle C! If I hum a note close to that frequency while using the toothbrush, I can feel the resultant waveform in my mouth, produced from the different wavelengths. My favorite frequency to hum is 261.5 Hz. That 5.0x10^-1 Hz vibration is really science!
Aaron "Solo" Stall: tenor 1. Aaron is known locally as the star of Radnor's State Champion Soccer Team. His teamwork skills really come in handy in Concordia, because Concordia has four parts, each covered by two singers, which come together to form harmony.
Corin MacDonard: tenor 1. Corin is most famous for his long flowing hair, which, when cut off, renders him weak and helpless. He enjoys philanthropy and kites. Recently, Corin got the lead in the school musical because of his lovely rendition of "I'm so Ronery"; proving that one does not need talent to suceed just a really awesome accent.
[edit] Public response
Concordia has been received positively by most audiences, however these audiences appear to be willing to accept an exchange of musical ability for charm and a high group cha score (helped primarily by Sean). The group has been described in the following ways:
"[a]s the #1 groupie for Concordia, all I have to say to the world of music is, 'watch out!'"
"Concordia not only makes great music; they're hot too."
"You guys need an image change"
"This is your last song? Great."
[edit] What the future holds
Sticking to their strict code of modesty and humility, members of Concordia generally decline to comment on their illustrious future. While it is clear to all observers that numerous record deals and awards await, members of the group prefer to keep thier opinions oozing with less hubris. For example, Merritt "Wow! Science!" Jenkins once said "Concordia is fun and all, but it is nothing compared to Science! Wow!"
