Mike Piazza had long been rumored to be the flaming homosexual once ambiguously outed by former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine. [1]
But Piazza is no longer alone on the limp-wristed Queens ballclub. On August 11, 2005, Mets outfielders Carlos Ivan Beltran and Michael Terrance Cameron decided to come out of the closet together in the outfield during the 7th inning of a Mets-Padres ballgame (incidentally illustrating why the Mets are once again in last place in the NL East). Cameron planted a huge kiss on Beltran, and the two gay ballplayers embraced with outspread arms. Both players were so overwhelmed by their spontaneous public dispaly of affection that they remained rolling on the outfield grass for several minutes.
Cameron and Beltran engaging in a very public display of affection:
As all of this gay debauchery went on in the Mets outfield, pitcher Tom Glavine, perhaps the only remaining heterosexual on the ballclub, watched with dismay from the mound. A routine pop fly was lofted toward the Mets' outfield, but Cameron and Beltran were too busy with each other to bother catching the ball. Again, the Mets are in last place in their division for a reason.
