Gavin Spittle

Gavin J. Spittle (14 December 1971) is the Vice President of Talk Programming for CBS Radio in Dallas, TX. He is responsible for programming both KLLI (Live 105.3 Free FM) and KRLD (News Radio 1080 AM). Although he is the director of programming for Live 105.3 Free FM, he takes his orders from "Afternoon Jigganaught" Russ Martin. He is often informally referred to as G-man by Russ.
Gavin was born in Massachusetts and grew up in Boston. His radio career started at Boch Broadcasting with Boch stations WXTK (95.1 West Yarmouth - now owned by Qantum) and WWKJ (101.1 Mashpee - now owned by Nassau) in Cape Cod as a Program Director. Later he moved on to KXNT (840 North Las Vegas) and KSFN (AM 1140). After a surprising amount of success in turning around these floundering stations, he was promoted to the top job at KLLI.
Spittle has a become somewhat of a whipping-boy for Russ Martin, as the shenanigans perpetrated against him are always of Russ's doing to be used for the added comedic value for Russ's afternoon program. Everybody secretly likes Gavin but nobody would ever tell him this.
Gavin has been offered a promotion to a CBS Radio position in New York City, but he has not announced whether he will take it, or has taken it.
[edit] The Pranks
The pranks have ranged from near lethal to outlandishly elaborate. Russ has:
- Detonated airbags in Gavin's office while he cowers under his desk pleading for his safety and sanity.
- Blown up his monitor and an autographed Mick Fleetwood drum head.
- Used concussion bombs in Gavin's office. The explosion was far more powerful than Russ had estimated, it knocked open the air duct covers, overturned plants and chairs, and split Gavin's credenza and desk right down the middle. The explosion reverberated throughout the entire studio building prompting quite a bit of inquiry as to what had happened. This prank brought a lot heat on Russ from upper management for being so reckeless with explosives that could have possibly resulted in someone's injury or death.
- Orchestrated an off site meeting between Gavin and a client on the other side of town. While he was out, Russ brought in a construction crew who turned his office into a small closet.
- Got the G-man off site once again and built a wall over his office door; looked just like a wall had always been there. Adding insult to injury, Gavin took a hammer to the "wall" to knock it down and made some really sweet marks in his door in the process.
- Deep fried many of Gavin's office supplies, including his stapler, calendar, mouse, and the nameplate off of his office door.
- Brutally "raped" Gavin with the show's members.
- Constructed a brick wall in the immediate interior of Gavin's office with the words "Gavin sucks" spraypainted on it.
