Gavin DeGraw is an American rock musician who achieved recognition in 2003 after his track "I Don't Want To Be" was chosen as the title theme to the CW (formerly the WB) television show One Tree Hill. More recently, his song "We Belong Together" was featured on the soundtrack to Tristan & Isolde.

Gavin DeGraw was born on February 4, 1977. He grew up in South Fallsburg, New York, United States. His father was a prison guard and his mother was a detox specialist, as mentioned in his song "I Don't Want To Be".

DeGraw is a singer, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist. He tours small and large venues throughout the United States. His J Records debut album, Chariot, includes eleven songs.

DeGraw's big break came when "I Don't Wanna Be" was chosen as theme song for the teen soap opera One Tree Hill. The song has also been performed on American Idol by Season 4 runner-up Bo Bice and Season 5 contestant Elliot Yamin. Another of DeGraw's songs, "Follow Through," has also achieved popularity and radio play. His song "We Belong Together" has been featured in the 2006 movie Tristan and Isolde, starring James Franco and Sophia Myles. In 2004 DeGraw released an acoustic version of Chariot called Chariot Stripped. DeGraw and his band recorded the album live in the studio, in only one take on the vocals, seeking an intimate effect.

Originally, DeGraw started in Manhattan clubs drawing his hometown fans to small clubs. Since 2004, his profile has grown bringing him to other states as he tours the country. He has appeared on television shows such as The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, The Late Show With David Letterman, The Ellen DeGeneres Show , and Live with Regis and Kelly. Recently, he has been seen in cameos on Dead Like Me, What I Like About You, and American Dreams.

His brother Joey DeGraw is also a recording artist who has played guitar and sung with Gavin. DeGraw has toured with such acts as The Barenaked Ladies, Butterfly Boucher, The Allman Brothers Band, Marc Broussard, Jason Mraz and Maroon 5. Band members were Joey DeGraw on guitar, Landon Ashworth on drums and Alvin Mooney on bass.

He also appeared in One Tree Hill, singing "I Don't Want to Be" and "Chariot" at Karen's Cafe.

According to the artist's official site, he returned to the studio on September 1, 2006 to begin recording his next album. It has a tentative release date set for January/February of 2007.
