Gates Avenue is a skip-stop station on the New York City Subway's BMT Jamaica Line. It is served by the Z train during rush hours and the J train at all other times. The emergency exit at the north end of the station leads to Howard Avenue while the south exit leads to Quincy Street and Broadway and has a crossunder. The 2002 artwork here is called Dream Train by Chris Robinson and has a subway (J train) theme.
South of this station, the remains of the BMT Lexington Avenue Line can be seen.
