Gary Pritchard

Gary Pritchard (Born 1970 in Bangor, North Wales) is a professional broadcaster and journalist. He currently reports on sport, especially football, in the Welsh language for the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).

Pritchard lived in Liverpool during his very early years until moving back to North Wales when his father, a Policeman, took up a position on Anglesey. Pritchard was educated at Ysgol Morswyn (Welsh Language) Primary School in Holyhead, North Wales, and Ysgol Bodedern Secondary School on Anglesey. After leaving school he studied to be an optician, a career he later pursued for seven years.

Becoming a regular panelist on the football show Ar Y Marc on BBC Radio Cymru in 1997, Pritchard later joined the station as a researcher in 1999. He is currently based at the BBC offices in Bangor but travels around the world to report on sport, mainly for BBC Cymru'r Byd, the BBC's Welsh Language website. He also contributes a column on football to the current affairs magazine Barn. Pritchard is married and the father of two young children.

Since July 2004, Pritchard has written a blog in the Welsh Language, Blogdroed, detailing his travels and views on football. He is also a contributor to the Welsh Football Data Archive, specialising in the Anglesey_League. Pritchard is a fan of Wrexham A.F.C. who play in the English Football League Two.
