Garrett Hongo

Garrett Hongo is a Japanese American poet born in Volcano, Hawaii in 1951. He has published two books with poetry: Yellow Light (1982) and The River of Heaven (1988) (Lamont Poetry Selection of The Academy of American Poets and a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize). His latest book is Volcano: A Memoir of Hawai'i (1995). He is now a creative writing professor at the University of Oregon.
