GH is a private consultancy based in Bristol in the UK, and with 160 staff in offices in fifteen other countries.
They have been involved in a large proportion of all major wind projects in the world, putting them in a unique position. They are often called upon by governments around the world for policy advice, and they contribute to the national debate on energy and environent.
They provide a full spectrum of independent services to the wind industry, including:
- GH WindFarmer the industry standard product for designing wind farms and estimating long-term energy production
- GH Bladed industry standard product which models the aerodynamics and structure of an operating wind turbine to design parts, and estimate stresses.
- GH Forecaster a short term forecasting service which can predict wind farm power output from a few minutes to a few days into the future. Forecasting enables improved integration of wind power into electrical grids.
- GH SCADA a SCADA system which provides accurate, secure and independent measurement of a varied portfolio of wind farms.
- Due diligence for banks
- Strategy and government work
These tools, particularly GH WindFarmer and GH Bladed have been a major contribution to the development of wind energy to industrial scales in Europe and around the world.
One of the founding directors, Andrew Garrad, was awarded the Poul la Cour prize for services to the wind energy industry by the EWEA at their 2006 conference "in honour of his outstanding achievement in wind energy."
