Garland Of Hours

Garland Of Hours is a three-piece alternative rock group from Washington, DC that was founded by Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty and two DC-area musicians who made musical contributions either on Fugazi's recordings or in live performance, vocalist/cellist Amy Domingues and drummer/percussionist Jerry Busher.
Busher, a former member of DC-area band The All-Scars, had roadied for Fugazi during their tours in support of their 1998 album End Hits, and had ended up replicating in concert, percussion parts on songs that had Canty overdubbing a second drum kit in the studio. Pleased with the experiment, Canty tapped Busher to play a second drum kit along side him for a handful of tracks that would appear on Fugazi's 2001 album The Argument and its companion single Furniture. Domingues had played cello on some of Canty's soundtrack work and had also contributed her playing to the song Cashout on The Argument.
During Fugazi's post-2002 hiatus, the trio began work on the Garland Of Hours project, commencing on the release of a self-titled CD in 2003 that was released on the Arrest Records label, an imprint first founded by Busher and Canty's younger brother James to release a CD by their experimental duo French Toast. The multi-instrumental Canty plays guitar and bass and sings backing vocals on the CD, and in their infrequent live appearances, usually plays the latter instrument. The album was distributed by the distribution arm of Fugazi's label Dischord Records.
Garland Of Hours were one of eight bands that participated in the first volume of the DVD series Burn To Shine, co-produced by Canty and released on a DVD label co-founded by him, Trixie. The DVD, released in early 2005, also features Busher's other band French Toast as well as The Evens, the side project led by his Fugazi cohort Ian MacKaye.
Canty and Domingues both contributed to the recording of Bob Mould's 2005 solo album Body Of Song, and as of July 2005 Canty was set to play drums as part of Mould's touring band.
