Garibaldi School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[1] Garibaldi School has been around since the 1960s. Based on the borders of the Mansfield and Sherwood districts it is perfectly positioned for the young Clipstone and Forest Town community to access. It provides children from 11-16 with a GCSE education and 16-18 year olds with an advanced GCE or VCE education with their sixth form.

There is a local feeling to this school. Infact, there are some recently retired teachers that spoke of "teaching your parents". It represents its constituency down to the finest detail, allbeit an empty alcohol can or cigarette stub behind the sports hall.

The harsh reality is that although it had a bright spell towards the end of the 90s, this school is way below par and needs investment. The good news investment's on its way. Thanks to the governments specialist status scheme it is now a specialist computing and mathematics college and hence has received a tremendous amount of investment, which has been put to good use by building new mathematics classrooms, major upgrades to the IT facilities and improvements to the sports-development department.
