Gareth McGlynn

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gareth McGlynn (born October 29, 1982 in Donegal, Republic of Ireland) is a midfielder for League of Ireland side, Derry City. A former employee in Harry's restaurant in Bridgend, County Donegal, McGlynn is regarded as a veteran in the side, despite only being in his early twenties, having broken into the side at the age of 17.

An Irish youth international, Gareth can play on the right or in the centre of midfield. A talented ball player, he has battled his way back into the team and impressed Stephen Kenny sufficiently to warrant a run in the side.

Despite being a Donegal man, McGlynn is a firm favourite amongst the City support.

In September 2006, two semi-final goals from McGlynn against Limerick F.C. helped Derry win 3-0 and thus qualify for the final of the Eircom League Cup.[1]
