Garcinia livingstonei

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Imbe (Garicia livingstonei) is mainly grown as an ornamental fruit, but is sometimes eaten. It is a tiny, brilliant, orange, thin-skinned fruit with one single large seed. The small yield of edible fruit is pleasently sweet, yet acidic. The juice is known for staining very badly. Mostly eaten fresh, it is also used in drinks. Native to Mozambique and East Africa, grown in south Florida. It is available September through March.
